Part One: Early Afternoon, May 19th, 2015, Kansas City, Kansas
Instrumentation: Korg R3 Vocoder Synthesizer, Micro Moog Synthesizer, Korg DS-8 Synthesizer, Optimus MD-1150 Keyboard Synthesizer, Ibanez DM1000 Digital Delay
Note: This session was recorded both as a digital computer file and onto a stereo cassette tape.
Part Two: Late Afternoon, May 19th, 2015, Kansas City, Kansas
Instrumentation: Reflector Stratocaster Electronic Guitar, Hello Kitty Stratocaster Electronic Guitar, Various Sound Effect Foot Pedals, Ibanez DM1000 Digital Delay, Boss RC 20X Loop Station Loop Duplicator, Electronic Sound Generators (toys), Guitar Preparations (arrow heads, plectrums, various scrapers and plunkers, etc.)
Note: The cassette recording of Part One was input live into this session for the performers to improvise along with. The resulting mix was recorded as a digital computer file.
Part Three: Morning, May 20th, 2015, Kansas City, Kansas
Instrumentation: Ovation Acoustic Guitar, El Degas Acoustic Guitar, Voice, Various Animal Calls, Balinese Flute
Note: This session was recorded through a digital camera.
Part Four: May 7th, 2015, Brownsville, Texas
Instrumentation: Recording Of Frogs Croaking
Note: Natural sounds recorded through a cellular telephone.
Part Five: May 25th, 2015, Brownsville, Texas
Instrumentation: Recording Of Frogs Croaking
Note: Natural sounds recorded through a cellular telephone.
PROCESS
Goff edited the lengthy digital recording of Part Two into seven portions, each portion based on its sonic continuities. Smaller edits were made within some of these portions. Select bits from Parts Three, Four, and Five were strategically inserted into some of the portions. Very few applications of sound effects were made on the collaged results. Song titles were conjured based on events that occurred while Kaswan was visiting Kansas City, May 18th-20th.
ADDITIONAL NOTE
This collection also contains a video for "Chains Batons Pipes And Hammers," which features collaged visual imagery shot in eastern Kansas and western Missouri, USA. Photography and Videographic Production by Charles Rice Goff III.
